2019 "Pop Is Dead Again" Year End List Extraordinaire

Something I've learned is that music isn't really dead, you're just looking in the wrong genres. I don't suggest looking at the pop charts and only the pop charts, though, of course that's harder now because Billboard became a bunch of greedy old farts because they're probably run by a bunch of greedy old farts, but at least we can see the whole year-end still and be disappointed to whatever degree we tend to be while being fans of genres that don't show up on this list.

Maybe there's songs you like on this list, and that's fine, but my tastes have not been any more than barely aligned with whatever this public view might be for some time. Take, for instance, my Spotify year-end automated lists which I've only posted one of here at this time, which can feature songs such as Borderline by Tame Impala, or Juice by Lizzo, both of which are not on this list, though another Lizzo song is.

Weezer Sings THE HITS! Order now and get a second copy of the album FREE! Just pay Shipping and Handling and MSRP and Sales Tax and Bribe Money.

Well Weezer is still around and making albums apparently. And this one's all covers. For some reason they just decided to make a while bunch of those. Enough to fill a whole album, apparently. I'm going to look at this not-quite-blue-not-quite-green album.

2018 Year End List Of Crap I Wrote About Garbage But Not The Band From The 90s

This was a year. I'm glad at least Smash can happen this year because otherwise there's not a lot else I'm digging. Especially not the music scene. As someone who listens to the radio a lot at work, I find myself sticking a lot more to older channels outside of rock and indie ones. I can tell you, good music did happen here. The thing is it didn't really happen much on the pop charts. Here's some chart, now I'm going to yell at it.

50 Shades For Free! Click Now For Samsung iPhone X 2

Here we go again. It's 6/9 and it's time for sex music. Thus ends the trilogy, unless they decide to make fanfics of this and they make movies of those but they changed all the characters again. Soon it's just a straight up porn with the lemon stealing whores again.

2017 Year End Song List Recap: Partial Hell Edition

This year was up and down and all over the freaking place. Not the best year. Kinda like garbage, but with some good points, so it's like digging through recycling, where you could be in worse trash, but at the same time there's a bunch of sticky soda cans messing things up and probably attracting bugs as well. Same goes for pop music. There was a lot of not great pop music on the charts, sometimes something good. I don't know if music will get better or worse or if I'm just too old for this crap already. At least there's indie stuff or at least less mainstream but still gets radio play. Anyway here's a bunch of songs and I'm going to see if things are better or worse and if standards are maybe lowering or not. Probably somewhere.

Spotify's Top 2017 Songs JUST FOR ME!

Apparently Spotify has been doing things like trying to figure out what you like and all that, and is also jamming it into playlists like Discover Weekly. This time they did their own year-end, and because of what I tend to find on there, mine came out... very weirdly. But that's just what I do, I guess. Anyway time to try to explain why I like certain songs, or at least listened to them enough for them to end up on here.

Reviews Album View

He started from Degrassi and now we're here looking at whatever this rap/hip-hop/R&B? album is. I bet I won't really get it and not really like a lot of it. See when I look at rap I keep thinking of what I'd listen to in the 2000s era when MTV2, which had music then, was showing me this whole movement of primarily Southern hip hop so I'm seeing groups like Outkast or the Ying Yang Twins and such. Nowadays I'm not really paying attention to the rap stuff but now it's just all over the charts more than ever and to the point where country people are even trying to rap. It's weird. But anyway here's this guy rapping. HE RAPS. And sings I guess.

1976 Year End List Review Thing: Deep In The Disco Edition (Part 2)

Here we go, it's this again, lots more disco to come among other funky business. Here's where the list is and below is where my list is.

1976 Year End List Review Thing: Bicentennial Funk Edition (Part 1)

Well here we are again, so it's the bicentennial of America, so you've got a lot of patriotism, but then there was Vietnam, so you've got a lot of the opposite. That seems to happen a lot. At least there's disco instead of crappy garbage music that time. You see people complain about disco back then and you show them some of the garbage today and they'll want like a decade more of those mirror ball thingies. Or just go back to the 40s, I don't know. We'll see what comes out of this list and see how it compares to... itself I guess, not really running a lot of things here. Also this is when music videos were less frequent (until recently because a bunch of rap songs drop and they forget to make videos or just put them on some obscure website) so there's like concert stuff but videos still showed up somehow. If anything just compiled from clips.

Katy Perry: Witless Protection Featuring Larry "Git-R-Dun" The Cable Guy

Music has allowed me to travel, which has reeducated my mind and changed my perspective on so much, so my education and my consciousness comes from my voice, and that's how I see, and that's how I witness you and that's how you witness me and that's why the eye is in the mouth. - Katy Perry apparently explaining her new album cover
Meanwhile I didn't use the actual album art for the album picture here (or a mockup of it at least) because I noticed she has a habit of making her song videos just literally GIFs until the "real" video. In one of them her head was spinning around so I just wanted to mess with that. This is literally the only joke I wanted to make about the album anyway so... yeah.

50 Previous Shades Of Something: The Book: The Movie

Well I reviewed the second one so why not go back to the first one. After all, it's 6/9. Unless you're in Europe or something in which case just read this in September I guess. Or in another time zone because this went up kinda late in the day after all.

Fifty Shades Of Edgier: The Book: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Porn Parody

Why am I reviewing this? Because I wanted to review a soundtrack from a movie I don't plan to see. And what better than them trying to keep this whole WOW HE IS WHIPPING HER BUTT WHILE THEY SIGN CONTRACTS thing rolling, I guess.

2016 Year End Song List Recrap (Part 2 of 2)

Remember this list? Or this one which is the same? Well here we go with the next part. Let's get this overwith.

2016 Year End Song List Recrap (Part 1 of 2)

Well, provided we don't get nuclearly obliterated within the month, we'll have generally survived the year. Just be done already. Some nice things did happen after all but yeah, it has been so back and forth. Anyway here's a crappy new formatted list that will probably lag your computer if you click it and it also probably autoplays video so maybe click on this list instead which is on Wikipedia, just filled with ads about their PBS pledge drive or whatever the hell it is.

Katy Prism's PERRY, Wait, I Meant Katy Perry's PRISON, Or Was It The Katy Perry Side Of The Moon, Never Mind, Anyway It's A Bunch Of Songs

So I was thinking, hey, what's a CGI movie coming out. That one with the troll dolls that they somehow made even weirder? And what's the soundtrack, can I review that as songs itself? It's just mostly covers and I guess the movie is just a big dance fest or something. Okay, what comes up if I look for soundtracks in general. Undertale? That's on here? I could review all 100-or-so songs without context, but... I think context is probably important for that one. Without, it's pretty much a bunch of decent to good chiptunes with insane hype behind it. Guardians of the Galaxy? It's mostly an oldies greatest hits collection, but I do like a bunch of the songs. Just you wait until I get back to some way past years and their year-end lists.

Long story short I was just going over random albums I got for free off Google Play and found this one. Yay. I don't think I got this for any other reason aside from "it was free".

1996 Year End Song List Recap: Slow Jams In The Whatever Years (2/2)

Okay, let’s just get this year done so we can keep going back to the past to listen to music that might suck or not. And here’s the list I guess.

1996 Year End Song List Recap: Music In The Clinton Years (1/2)

I could just make Bill Clinton one-liners throughout this entire thing but they don’t work as well without the voice. Here’s the list on a website where you can change the list and make it completely wrong.

The Real Legit Ghostbusters 2016 The Movie The Album The Review

It's the film that has men's panties in a knot and feminists' bras non-existent, Ghostbusters 2016 Edition, where instead of just having one woman in the main group like I originally thought, there's four and they are the busters. Apparently the movie isn't too bad, and the opposite of bad is good, so it must be fairly good. I haven't seen it yet though, but there's a soundtrack with songs on it and I can look at that at least.
